Andrew Griffith MP - Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade
Although he has now had a number of senior ministerial roles, Andrew is not your usual 'career politician'.
After working in the City of London for PriceWaterhouse Coopers and NM Rothschild, he joined Sky plc where he spent a twenty-year career - serving for a time as the youngest Financial Director of any FTSE 100 company. Andrew also served for a year as non executive Chairman of Just Eat plc for which he was awarded Non-Executive Director of the Year by The Sunday Times.
He served as the Economic Secretary to the Treasury – also known as the ‘City’ Minister - in 2022 and 2023 and delivered a wide-ranging package of Brexit reforms to improve the competitiveness of the UK’s financial services sector, boost investment by British pension funds in Britain and support wealth creators. He was also the lead Treasury Minister on the successful rescue of Silicon Valley Bank UK.
Dame Harriett Baldwin MP - Shadow Minister of State for Business and Trade
Before she entered politics, Harriett was a Managing Director at JPMorgan. She later became a pension fund manager at the bank before leaving in 2008. She served as vice-chair of Social Investment Business between 2008 and 2012. She has an MBA in International Finance from McGill University and an MA from Oxford University in Modern Languages (French and Russian).
During her time in Parliament she has held a variety of roles. She served as a Government Whip and Economic Secretary to the Treasury (City Minister) in David Cameron’s Government and as Minister for Defence Procurement and as Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department for International Development in Theresa May’s Government.
Greg Smith MP - Shadow Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Business and Trade
Greg Smith is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Mid Buckinghamshire, re-elected to the House of Commons for a second term in the 2024 General Election, having first been elected in 2019 for the now abolished Buckingham constituency. Greg serves as Shadow Small Businesses Minister in the Shadow Business and Trade Team. In addition Greg is also a Shadow Transport Minister and an Opposition Whip.
Before his election to Parliament, Greg built a career in print, design, and marketing, working with clients across manufacturing, medical technology, and charitable sectors. Throughout his career he has been driven by a commitment to get things done—a principle that continues to guide him in Parliament.
Alison Griffiths MP - Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Shadow Business and Trade team
Alison is Conservative MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton. In her thirty-year business career, she worked in senior roles for global businesses including pensions provider Aviva, and Coca-Cola, helped technology companies grow, and advised the government on FinTech and cybersecurity.
In October 2024, she was elected as a member of the Business and Trade Select Committee.
